Singapore Coach Excellence (SG-Coach) Programme
Level 1 – Course Overview
The Singapore Coach Excellence (SG-Coach) Programme is a national training and development pathway for coaches across community, club, and high-performance sport programmes.
Its goal is to develop high-quality, professional coaches through a structured and progressive system.
Coaches trained under the SG-Coach Programme will gain:
- Sports science knowledge
- Coaching and communication skills
- Life skills and values-based coaching
- Evidence-based coaching practices
The SG-Coach Programme has replaced the National Coaching Accreditation Programme (NCAP) since 27 March 2015.
SG-Coach Programme Structure
The SG-Coach Programme consists of three progressive levels:
- Level 1: Foundation SG-Coach Development
- Level 2: National SG-Coach Development
- Level 3: Master SG-Coach Development
Course Aim
To produce competent, high-quality coaches who are able to train novice participants in the community.

Course Fee
Total Course Fee: $1,029.90
The course fee includes the following components:
- $910.00 – 4-day face-to-face training course and E-learning materials
- $59.95 x 2 – Theory examination fees (2 papers) conducted at Republic Polytechnic
All fees listed above are inclusive of the full training and assessment components required for course completion.
Registration & Pre-Requisite Skills Test
Period: 2 March – 27 March 2026
Mode: Video submission
All applicants must pass a pre-requisite skills test conducted via video submission. This test ensures participants have prior knowledge and technical proficiency in Weightlifting.
Submission Details
- Submit a video link via the SG-Coach Weightlifting (Level 1) 2026 Registration Form
- Participants are advised to prepare their video before registration
Applicants who pass the skills test will receive:
- Registration confirmation
- Payment instructions
E-Learning Phase
Period: 1 April – 30 April 2026
Mode: Online (Home-based)
Participants will:
- Set up a Sport-Sync account
- Gain access to required e-learning materials
All e-learning modules must be completed before attending the face-to-face sessions.

Important Notes
- Attendance is compulsory for all sessions
- After completing the 4-day course, participants must submit:
- Coaching philosophy
- RAMS form
- One (1) session plan
- Submissions must be completed within the given timeframe
Home-Based Self-Directed Study & Online Exam
Participants will be provided with theoretical materials to study prior to the online examination.
Online Theory Exam
Participants who pass the Online Theory Exam and FSS Exam may proceed to the practical assignment.
Practical Assignment
Duration: Within one year of passing the online theory exam
Requirements
- Coach at least one (1) athlete in any SWF assessment or competition
- Submit the selected athlete’s profile three (3) months prior to the assessment or competition
